Gallus folding carton systems sales dip

Gallus says the debt and banking crisis had an effect on demand from customers in the industrialised countries in 2012. However, the company says the business performance in developing and emerging countries was good.

The company’s label business showed a slight growth, while the economic situation had a bigger effect on the more project based folding box business.

Gallus has also appointed Stephan Plenz as the company’s new chairman. After 20 years with Gallus former chairman Peter Hauser retired. Plenz was a member of the board of directors. Gallus has also elected while Klaus Bachstein to the board of directors.

Gallus is a market leader in the development, production and sale of narrow-web, reel-fed presses designed for label manufacturers. Its folding cart business is being developed with a range of wide-web, reel-fed presses and die-cutters.

In 1999 Gallus entered into a co-operation agreement with Heidelberg. Gallus employs around 580 people, of which 270 are based in Switzerland.
