GAMAA announces PrintEx15 board

Three Australian print leaders are stepping up to the board of PrintEx15, the national print and design exhibition, slated for Sydney in 2015. Phillip Rennell from Currie Group, David Procter from Konica Minolta and Epson’s Craig Heckenberg will be joined by representatives from the PIAA, who are yet to be announced. Adrian Fleming, president of GAMAA, says the members are keen to start working on the show, which will be held for the first time at Sydney Olympic Park following the closure of the Darling Harbour Convention and Exhibition Centre for renovations.

Fleming says, “While 2015 seems a long way off, there is considerable pre-planning that goes into mounting an exhibition like PrintEx. The GAMAA board members give freely of their time and share their expertise to ensure the show meets the needs of exhibitors and visitors alike. “We are conscious of the shifting landscape for trade shows and the board will be looking at trends both here and internationally to inform their decisions.” PacPrint which alternates with PrintEx every four years was judged a success when it was held in May this year, despite a smaller floorspace than the previous show and the lack of offset presses on display, and the absence of Heidelberg. Trade shows around the world are grappling with post GFC-dynamics, many are not running at all, while others notably Ipex are having to reposition themselves following a spate of high profile exhibitor withdrawals. The GAMAA board members will work with the PIAA and Reed Exhibitions to bring the show to life, with the first meeting to be held before the end of this year.
