Geon sets environmental record with haul of green certifications

The Printing Industries Association of Australia revealed that Geon had received Sustainable Green Print (SGP) Level 3 accreditation for all nine of its Australian sites and eight of its New Zealand plants.

Geon’s group sustainability and communications manager, Kellie Northwood, said it was a difficult but important process that required buy-in from senior management.

“There is an expectation, not just from our many customers, but from the wider community, that a large printing company like Geon should take a proactive stand with regard to environmental sustainability,” she said.

“We have spent the past year building a solid sustainability portfolio with ISO 14001, ISO 9001, FSC/PEFC chain of custody, carbon footprinting and now SGP Level 3 across every one of our sites.”

Ron Patterson, Printing Industries’ general manager of sales and marketing, said the printing group’s certification program was the largest multiple site certification completed under SGP.

He added that Geon’s achievement was “both a testament to the environmental commitment of Geon and to the relevance of our Sustainable Green Print program for industry companies of all sizes”.
