GJS hits 15,000 website orders

GJS Machinery, which supplies screen printing, heat transfer and textile printing equipment and materials, is celebrating moving 15,000 orders through its website, with a surprise free order for the lucky 15,000th customer.

The GJS team, headed up by managing director Greg Stone, watched the order numbers climb all month before finally hitting the 15,000 mark on Friday.

The company decided to share the moment with its customers by taking 15 per cent off all orders for the day, with the 15,000th order having no charge at all.

Lesley Ritchie from Victoria’s Get Stitched Up received her milestone order of $456.51 worth of dye sublimation consumables and printable products free. Her party supplies store offers personalised aprons, tote bags, mugs, beer mats, sun shades, key rings and other custom gift and promotional item.

As one of the first in the industry to go online with a website, GJS launched its first e-store in June 2003.

Stone says the company is proud of its website, which is designed to offer customers as much information as possible.

“It’s all about visibility and providing customers with as much information as we can; to let them know what stock we have available and if we don’t what the lead time is and ETAs,” he says.

“When their order ships they get their tracking number through email. We get huge amounts of feedback from customers using our website saying how good it is – how easy to use and the information available.

“We were one of the first movers in this space – it’s interesting to see some of the other companies in the industry launching their own sites only this year.

“For us hitting 15,000 orders is quite a huge achievement. We thought we’d make some noise about it, because we are actually really proud.”

Stone has big plans for the company website, with a redesign set to go live in the next couple of weeks.

“We are really going to raise the bar with online services. Our current website has been up since 2007 and is due for a makeover, though it has evolved throughout that time because we build it inhouse and customise it to our company,” he says.

“We are going to step it up a level and the new website will be phenomenal – it will be optimised for mobile, tablet, desktop – whatever device you’re using, it will look fantastic and be just as easy to use.”

Stone says the business is currently going from strength to strength, with strong demand seeing GJS adding two new staff this year, in sales and customer support.
