Although details are being kept under wraps, the developer said its new tool marks a “breakthrough” in calculating profiles for simulating the combined printing of both spot and process colours.
GMG research team leader Hanno Hoffstadt said the simulation offers “predictability that was previously thought unachievable”.
“At the moment, we are working flat-out on the products and expect detailed information to be available just in time for the exhibition,” he added.
GMG’s new cloud-based tool targets companies across the publishing chain from agencies to printers. This includes the ability to offer online colour conversions and colour correction.
Garry Muratore, GMG Oceania sales manager, said: “The GMG Drupa announcements will have an immediate impact in both the Australian and New Zealand markets. GMG together with Kayell in Australia and Aarque in New Zealand have established GMG’s proofing systems as the best of class in both the conventional offset and packaging markets.
“Having to ability to simulate multi-colour packaging repro, particularly in conjunction with new generation proofing devices from the likes of Epson, Roland and Mimaki will give us a unique ability in the important market sector,” added Muratore.
In addition, GMG will be showcasing its GMG ProductionSuite for high-volume wide-format users.
The company’s foray into the wide-format print sector can drive more than 800 print and cutting machines and is claimed to be “the most complete solution in the market” for indoor and outdoor advertising, sign and super-wide-format printing.
The first company in the world to install the system was Magnify Media in Melbourne, which will be profiled in the April issue of ProPrint.
Muratore said: “The announcement regarding Production Suite builds on the colour management expertise we have gained in conventional printing and delivers the consistency, quality and ease of use to the fast-growing wide-format production print market.”
