Brown delivered his presentation in front of a major piece of evidence for his optimism, the new Goss M600 Folia, which the company believes will be a better investment for printers than a sheetfed long perfector, and which has been made possible through a new Vits sheeter.
Running at 30,000sph the Folia has no dryer and uses conventional inks, with a spray powder unit located in the sheeter. Goss believes that on a per sheet cost basis the Folia will be more competitive than sheetfed presses.
The demonstration at drupa has the Folia making ready in double quick time, thanks to innovations including DigiRail, and also making ready with less than 250 waste sheets.
Also attracting interest on the Goss stand the company is the world’s first 96-page Sunday 5000 web press, which wasn’t shown in its full glory, but the single unit was drawing plenty of wide eyes from printers.
Brown also announced an expanded partnership with Ferag in its finshing business, aimed at strengthening worldwide sales and support. The latest Pacesetter A4 saddlestitcher was in operation at the Ferag booth.
