Graph Pak brings back laminating films

Equipment and consumables supplier Graph Pak has brought back its laminating film portion of the business, and sold 55 tonnes since February.

The company will be supplying films produced by Cosmo, which it says is the world’s biggest manufacturer in its market, operating across Korea, India and the US, publicly listed on the Bombay stock exchange.

Owner Tom Ralph says, “We have reopened Graph Pak laminating film supplies. It was running 2005-2012, and then sold to BJ Ball, we had to sit out a five year period and have reopened this year.

“I sold it for economic reasons at the time, having received a good offer from BJ Ball. I also had some personal things going on that time, including my divorce.”

Ralph says he expects the velvet/soft touch laminates to be the most popular, as they have taken off in the Australian market.

He says, “We will have gloss films, matte films, the best Velvet SoftTouch film available, as well as all of the films for digital printing presses and specialty applications.

“Print has gone boutique, so printers want something to marry up with that ideal. The soft touch and velvet films have taken off well, and have been popular in the Australian market.

“We started dabbling around with it in February, and have so far 55 tonnes, and expect to triple that in the next 12 months.

“Some of the industry call the film velvet, others call it soft touch, it is less prone to marking, and is ideal for embossing, varnishing, spot UV foiling.”

As for why printers should purchase laminating films through Graph Pak, Ralph says,“For quality, service, and good pricing it makes sense for printers to come to Graph Pak.”
