Graphic Art Mart acquires Q1 Media

Sign, digital and display suppliers Graphic Art Mart has completed an Australia-wide acquisition trail following the takeover of SA wholesaler Q1 Media.

The acquisition bookends an impressive last few years for the graphics supplier, which saw the takeover of Darwin-based sign provider Avant Garde in April 2015, which followed an expansion into Perth in September 2014.

The purchase of Q1 Media, according to Graphic Art, is to increase national presence and provide SA customers with an Adelaide home base. GA Mart suppliers have provided the industry for over 40 years, and now have distributers in almost all major cities across the country.

Q1 media has operated in the sign supplies industry since 1987, and used to trade under the name DR Sign Supplies. It had been a direct supplier for Graphic Art to the SA market for some time.

Graphic Art marketing manager Jessica Tailby says there are currently no plans for the business to expand further, however says ‘if the opportunity arises’ to expand into Tasmania- the only Australian state without a GA Mart branch- the company will.

Finalisation of the deal will take place early next week, and the Q1 brand will then operate under the Graphic Art Mart name.

Tailby also assures staff will be retained at Q1 Media, and the company states ‘business will continue to operate as usual out of the current facilities’ at Q1’s Mitchell Park location in SA.

Q1 Media director Samantha Drewe will also continue her tenure and assist in the acquisition process, according to a statement made by Graphic Art.

Managing director of Graphic Art Mart Mousa Elsarky says, “We are excited to have the opportunity to service the South Australian market and bring it the best of products and service levels they deserve.”

“We are in for a busy few weeks with the expectation of successfully integrating Q1 Media into our business with minimal inconvenience to customers.”
