Graphic Source installs digital gem

Perth print and design firm Graphic Source says the quality of its digital printing is reaching new heights with its new iGen4 Diamond Edition from Fuji Xerox.

Peter Yeoman, managing director of Graphic Source, says the Diamond Edition’s matt dry ink, XXL sheet size, speed enhancements and paper delivery enhancements made it a sure bet for his business.

Run in tandem with Yeoman’s wife and partner Helen, Graphic Source specialises in digital printing, display banners, short run books and corporate work and offers inhouse finishing.

The iGen is replacing a previous Xerox digital press, the Color 1000, which Yeoman says Graphic Source were the first to pick up in Perth. He tells Australian Printer, “I think there are about a dozen Color 1000s now in Perth so we needed to make a point of difference, change the rules and up our quality and service. We focus on quality and servicing our clients.”

He says avoiding hotspots with the iGen4’s matt dry ink is one of the highlights of the machine, with no unwanted shine – in fact, he tells AP, “We have had offset printers look at what we have printed on the iGen4, and they cannot tell the difference between offset printing and what we are producing. The ink is a flat overall matt ink, a matt look, so there are no obvious telltale signs of digital print.”

Fuji Xerox says the iGen4 Diamond Edition prints at speeds of 110 pages per minute with a maximum media size of 14.33 by 26 inches. It can potentially be used to produce packaging, with an automated solution for short run folding cartons.

Yeoman adds that Fuji Xerox Australia had the machine ready to print in the second week of installation; the company has been working with Xerox over many years. He says, “We are on our sixth or seventh upgrade with Fuji Xerox, we trust them, they give great service. The iGen is going really well. We liked what we were producing before but we are even more pleased with what we are doing now.”
