The initiative covers all areas of prepress, press, and postpress with CO2 emissions generated indirectly to be offset by investing in a climate protection project through the Swiss charitable foundation myclimate.

Heidelberg plans to ensure all unavoidable emissions are neutralised by climate protection measures elsewhere.

The project will use biomass to generate power and heat, which would previously be burnt as waste in fields in India.

The total electrical power required by the equipment used (3MWh), printing plates, ink, coatings, alcohol, dampening solution additive, and cleaning agents also make up part of the final figure.

Heidelberg is also offering daily tours of its stand, which it dubs ‘HEI ECO’ tours, which outline the company’s environmentally friendly solutions for commercial printing.
