Heidelberg to premiere products at Ipex

In a world first, Heidelberg will show its Prinect Integration System / Prinect Pressroom Manager.

The Prinect Integration System enables centralised data management in a print shop using JDF, which allows all production processes in job management, prepress, press, and postpress to be fully integrated in a workflow management system. The Prinect Pressroom Manager is the world’s first entirely JDF-based pressroom system capable of controlling and managing all of the data required in print production. This automates and enhances key areas of the workflow.

There will also be the world premiere for Prinect Inpress Control. Prinect Inpress Control is an inline colorimeter that measures colour and register in the quality control strip on the fly. The new system significantly reduces press downtimes because there is no need to halt the machine during the measuring process and the register can be checked and adjusted online. It will also be available in the future for the Speedmaster CD 74 and Speedmaster XL 105 series. The market launch will be held in phases from the end of 2006 onwards.

Heidelberg will also be showcasing the world’s first t 10 colour press in 35 x 50 format, the Speedmaster SM 52-10-P, and is therefore responding to the growing demand for even longer perfectors in this format. The company presented the Speedmaster SM 52-8-P, the first long perfector in A3 format, at drupa 2004. With the Speedmaster SM 52 10 colour press, commercial print shops can further rationalise the production of items with special colours or coatings in a single pass. Varnishing is particularly beneficial, speeding up postpress operations and protecting products more effectively. As a result, the press is ideal for short runs with frequent job changes.

In terms of other new products, Heidelberg will show the Eurobind 4000 perfect binder, the Stitchmaster ST 450 saddlestitcher, the CutStar CAN sheeter, and the Anicolor inking unit for the Speedmaster SM 52.

Also found at the Heidelberg stand will be the Prinect Inspection Control, a measuring device for sheet inspection; the Prinect Digital Print Manager; Prinect Hybrid Screening; a Prinect update for Printready, Signa Station and MetaDimension; Prinect linkups to third-party MIS systems; the Suprasetter A105; cold-foil finishing with the Speedmaster CD 74 and Speedmaster CD 102 from Heidelberg; and the Diana X 115/135 folder gluer.
