Horizon launches Stitchline 6000

Bernie Robinson from Australian supplier Currie & Co says the new unit will take less space as it collates, stitches and trims in the L format rather than the previous U shape, proving a boon for printers who need to optimise their floorspace.

The Stitchliner 6000 has been designed to take account of the difficulties printers have in attracting skilled labour, with the touchscreen operator control providing an intuitive graphic interface. Make ready is minimal through high levels of automation.

It will stitch through 5mm, resulting in a book size up to a maximum 10mm. Sheet size is 356x508mm maximum, with an operating speed of 6000 sheets an hour.

Horizon also launched a new hand feed case binding machine, which Robinson says will appeal to short run book printers and those looking to get in on the blooming photo books business.

The HCB-2 is simple to operate, has an optional bar code verification system to ensure the correct cover and book block are put together, and can work at up to 180 books an hour.

Finally Horizon was showing its new highly automated AFfolder series, which takes a few seconds to make all settings including buckle plates, roller gaps, suction feed heads. There is also a graphic user interface for step by step picture led operation. The flexible modular design with 6 + 4 modular buckle concept allows for simple to complex fold patterns for maximising folding variations.
