HP launches Latex R2000

The HP Latex R2000 will be available on Australian shores in Q3, with Neopost bringing in the hybrid rigid/flexible flatbed printer, following its official launch at Fespa.

Morgan Quinn, national sales manager, large format, Neopost, says, “We are looking at the first units being available in Q3.

“It takes away a lot of the challenges of traditional UV printers, and takes what we like about HP Latex and adds the ability to print directly to the substrate.

“It maintains the touch and feel of the substrate. If you print on a glossy material it still looks glossy, and a matte material looks matte. Typically UV printing has a matte look, regardless of the substrates..

“It also has a higher colour gamut than traditional UV, and vibrant colour.

“It also allows people to use one technology for multi-substrate marketing or advertising campaigns. Previously they might have printed posters on a latex printer, then the foamboard or acrylic on a UV printer, giving a different finish to the campaign overall.

“Now you can print all your rigid materials on latex, giving better colour uniformity across the campaign.

“It is odourless as well, making it suitable for interior work. It has good durability, and with white ink is very impressive. We are seeing a lot of demand already, people asking when they can have it. Everyone that has seen it so far is very impressed.”

The R2000 is coupled with HP Latex White Ink which the company says is delivering the glossiest white on transparent and colored media.

HP says its Latex R2000 Printer powers PSPs with ultimate versatility through a single ink set. Applications such as retail, outdoor signage, window graphics, events and exhibitions, decoration and car wrapping are now a possibility.

On the high-speed quality setting, the HP Latex R2000 prints at speeds up to 88sqm/hr.
