HP wins Leighton contract extension

The deal has seen Leighton take on a variety of multi-function printers and LaserJet devices across the organisation, and as of this year included the company’s participation in the HP Carbon Offset for LaserJet Printers program.

“We have decided to renew our Managed Print Services contract with HP because our existing HP printing infrastructure has reduced the cost of our printing, improved staff productivity, and reduced our environmental footprint,” said Leighton chief information officer Diane Fernley-Jones. “This is largely due to the various software solution tools and features in the printing devices that we use across the organisation.”

With the renewed contract, Leighton will also deploy HP’s Access Control solution, which allows the organisation to control which staff has access to which printers in the office. It also allows the IT department to monitor and report on usage to identify areas for optimisation and control, improve productivity, and minimise environmental impact.

Leighton has internal policies which mandate that the company manages and minimises their environmental footprint.

“We have better control over copying and printing by restricting printer access and usage within the organisation,” said Fernley-Jones. “The HP solutions reduce unnecessary printing and paper wastage, as uncollected jobs are never actually printed.”

Since the start of the year, HP has reduced Leighton’s printer fleet from a 7:1 user to printer ratio to a 10:1 and in some cases 15:1 ratio.

According to Fernley-Jones, Leighton’s current HP infrastructure supports 9,000 of its staff across Australia and New Zealand.
