International course in print media set for 2006

Heidelberg’s Print Media Academy (PMA) has teamed up with the London College of Communication (LCC) have joined forces to offer the new course, targeted at aspiring print media managers and executives.

Beginning in April 2006, it is designed to improve their expertise in both technical and strategic business management issues while also expanding their career horizons.

The course involves around nine months of full-time education, two weeks of which is spent at the PMA in Heidelberg.

Head of PMA, Bernd Schopp, says that unlike more general MBA courses, this course concentrates on strategic management in the high-tech print media industry.

“ As part of the ‘Learn and Teach’ training concept, students will be given the opportunity to gain an in-depth insight into the international requirements governing technology change, investment policy, market dynamics, diversification and change management, and will be shown how to use this information to develop solutions for the daily work,” he says. “The Print Media Academy and London College of Communication are two world renowned institutes in the print industry that have come together with this goal in mind.”

The training concept behind the new course is known as Learn and Teach, which is based on core lectures and talks by guest speakers. It aims to inform students and inspire them to further research as part of case studies.

The goal is to provide students with the theoretical tools and expertise they need to analyse problems and formulate solutions through practical application in specific business scenarios. Each study unit will be evaluated using group projects or the student’s individual work.
