KBA makes digital push

KBA is signalling its intention to push its digital high volume inkjet presses in 2015, putting the RotaJET L digital platform in the spotlight for this year’s Hunkeler Innovationdays. The hall one KBA stand will feature the latest and future RotaJET VL press applications in industrial digital print in Lucerne, Switzerland on February 23 to 26. KBA says the modular RotaJET L platform is available in five different web widths from 895mm to 1300mm and can be upgraded to the maximum printing width and colour content at a later date.

KBA says it can be flexibly configured to suit ‘all fundamental’ application areas in high volume digital print. Retrofitting future generations of printing heads is also possible, to allow printers to ‘react quickly and economically to changing demands without needing to invest in entirely new kit.’ The RotaJET VL inkjet range features a printing width of more than 1.60m or even wider than 2m for industrial applications. The first customer, decorative printer Interprint, fired up the machine with a printing width of 1.68m. The machine joins KBA’s new 89-130 series based on the RotaJET L platform and the previous generation RotaJET 76 (with a maximum printing width of 781mm or 30.7in) unveiled at drupa 2012 for book, commercial, magazine and newspaper printing. The offset giant partnered with HP in September 2014 to develop a digital press for corrugated printing. The release comes as offset rival Heidelberg also launches four new digital machines, in partnership with Ricoh.
