Konica Minolta hits high notes with launch of C8000

Kicking off proceedings Hiro Kaji, managing director at Konica Minolta Australia, began by saying the company had learned a lot about printing over the past five years, and said the launch of the new C8000 showed was ‘serious about printing’, before paying tribute to event MC Vince Sorreti’s insight into Australian demographics.

David Procter, national marketing manager for Konica Minolta, said, “The bizhub Press C8000 takes Konica Minolta and its customers to the next level. It is a major development in the digital colour market, and we believe the opportunities over the next 12 months are exceptional.”

Procter highlighted the rapid growth into commercial print for Konica Minolta since it launched at PacPrint 05, with the light production bizhub Pro 6500 digital colour printer being widely embraced by the print industry.

He said, “Now the new C8000 is the next step. Its resolution is 1200 x 1200dpi, it will print up to 92 A4 pages a minute, it has an eight beam laser system, a new vacuum feed paper handling system, and will print stocks up to 350gsm. This all adds up to a quality image from a reliable, highly productive printer.”

Two C8000s were on display, one powered and running, the other for show only. Brett Palmer, national product manager at Konica Minolta said it took the company just two hours to install the working model, including overcoming a convex floor.

The event attracted printers big and small, offset and digital, and from every state in the country. Also in attendance were Andy Vels Jensen and Alastair Hadley from Heidelberg, now a Konica Minolta reseller.
