KW goes natural

An increasing trend in Australia and overseas towards a natural brown look sees KW Doggett release recipe cards and limited edition notepads on its Buffalo substrates. The two natural brown stocks form part of the merchant’s packaging portfolio of 13 products. Buffalo Board is a versatile packaging grade, used for applications ranging from food to cosmetic packaging – everything from beverage carriers, bakery trays, stationery items like notepads, folders, luxury packaging and coffee cup wraps.

Doggett has collaborated with Sydney restaurateur Maurizio Terzini, owner of Icebergs and pizza restaurant D’Orazio, and design studio Seesaw on its Buffalo Board recipe cards. John Alipan, business development manager for packaging with KW Doggett, says, “A beautiful natural looking grade, Buffalo Board prints, folds and glues well. The strength and direct food contact certification adds to the board’s appeal. “The grade is a stand-out on the retail shelf with its warm, rustic appeal. I love seeing designers using the kraft look as a backdrop for their designs. What they are creating has become more and more interesting over the years.” Seesaw’s Anita Ryley adds, “The aim was to produce a series of simple recipe cards that expanded on our cheesy theme, while incorporating colourful illustrations. Through the use of a variety of printing techniques and embellishments, the result is two cards that showcase the wonderful qualities of Buffalo Board.” Manufactured carbon neutral, Buffalo Board comes in 225gsm or 381ums to 386gsm or 711ums, contains a minimum of 18 per cent recycled post consumer waste fibre and is PEFC certified. Its cousin Buffalo Kraft comes in 80gsm and is popular for menus, table top covers in restaurants, cheese wrappers, interleaving, annual reports and wrapping paper.
