Labelcraft rebrands cartons arm and invests in Bobst kit

The folding carton division, which is based in the Sydney suburb of Villawood, was formerly known as ‘Labelcraft Print & Packaging’ and is now called ‘Labelcraft Cartons’.

General manager Evan Atkins told ProPrint: “We have been discussing the issue for a while. The main thing was that it makes more of a distinction for us in the marketplace and for our customers. The carton business is seeing some growth and we have invested in some new equipment to support that growth.”

The company has invested in a Bobst Ambition folder/gluer, which was installed at Villawood earlier this month. It bought the machine through Ferrostaal Australia.

Atkins said the company already had a gluer, but decided it needed to add a “little more firepower”.

“We needed an extra gluer just to improve our output. It will give us better control and improve our lead times a bit,” he said.

Atkins added that the company opted from the new Bobst machine having previously purchased a Bobst diecutter from Ferrostaal at PacPrint.

“We looked at other machines around the same spec; we looked at the Heidelberg and looked at a few of the cheaper Chinese machines. But we decided to stick with Bobst. It’s been really reliable, the diecutter hasn’t missed a beat,” he said.
