LabelExpo breaks records

LabelExpo Europe is claiming record numbers of exhibitors and visitors attended its 35th event earlier this month as the sectors continues strong growth.

The show in Belgium attracted 35,700 visitors, up by 12.4 per cent on the last event, exhibitors up from 600 to 650, and had its biggest ever floorspace at 34,566sqm.

Highlights included new digital printers from manufacturers like EFI, Epson and Screen. Xeikon showed a new printing technology it called Fusion. HP Indigo showcased its HP Indigo 20000 and WS6800 digital presses.

Established label press manufacturers showed hybrid presses, including Gallus with its DCS340, while Mark Andy showed both its Digital Series and Performance Series P4 and MPS, and Nilpeter launched its hybrid conventional and digital presses.

Labelexpo managing director Lisa Milburn, of the Global Series, says many manufacturers had record sales and lead generation.

“The main trends coming out of this year’s show are the continued move to package printing as we see more manufacturers bringing short run production printing presses,” she says.

“This backs up our strategy going forward, and the ongoing dominance of digital as more and more hybrid digital printing presses flood into the marketplace.”

Organisers say the biennial trade show is the world’s largest event for the label and package printing industry and that visitors came from 146 countries with an increase in those from outside Europe. It was held September 29 to October 2.
