Landa named Israeli Entrepreneur of the Year

Digital printing pioneer Benny Landa has been named Israeli Entrepreneur of the Year for his contribution to the industry and business success.

The Indigo inventor who is developing a print technology hoped to combine the best features of offset and digital, will now compete with entrants from 50 countries for the world title.

The contest, organised by accounting firm Ernst & Young, examines the leadership, financial strength, management capabilities, strategic thinking, organisational culture, innovation, crisis management, and global impact of entrepreneurs vying for the award.

Landa was selected by a jury of a dozen Israeli economic and business leaders. Israel is home to more tech entrepreneurs per capita than any other country.

The prolific inventor has won a slew of awards, including the prestigious Edwin H Land medal, since he developed the Indigo in 1993 as one of the world’s first digital printers.

In June he secured a €100m investment from specialty chemicals group Altana to finance the engineering and production ramp-up of Landa Nanographic presses.

First proposed at drupa two years ago, the Nano technology is designed to produce offset quality print at offset speeds, but with no plates, no makeready, no waste, and variable data.
