LIA enjoy ‘German night’

Members of LIA and their partners enjoyed a ‘German night’ where they viewed Heidelberg’s new Speedmaster XL 105 in action, as it printed colourful posters of another feat of German engineering, Mercedes Benz luxury cars.

After the demonstration and in the spirit of a true German feast, LIA members ate sauerkraut and bratwurst, as they listened to an educational talk about the latest Mercedes Benz vehicles, delivered by Mercedes Benz enthusiast, Scott Robertson.

Executive officer of LIA NSW Division, Bob Lamont, says there was a two-fold reason for the LIA members to attend the event in conjunction with Heidelberg.

“I think there’s a number of things that make these events so worthwhile,” he says. “Firstly the fraternity of the organisation, a lot of these guys grew up together and know each other and it’s also a really important education process for printers to see new and innovative technologies. Secondly it’s an important opportunity to recognise the outstanding graduates from TAFE who are members of LIA and the LIA scholarship winners whom Heidelberg helps select,” he says.

The Heidelberg Speedmaster XL 105 Printing Press sets new standards in productivity thanks to increased speed, reduced makeready time and enhanced print quality for the long print-run sector. The Speedmaster presses are capable of attaining speeds of 18,000 sheets per hour at large print formats to 74 x 105 cm.
