Longbeach in liquidation

Michael Wu’s Longbeach Printing is in liquidation, according to ASIC, ending weeks of speculation on the Victorian print outfit’s position.

Liquidator Timothy MS Holden from Foremans Business Services was appointed on August 10 to wind up the Seaford business. Australian Printer has contacted Holden for comment, however did not receive a response by deadline.

The position of Longbeach has been unclear since Wu was ejected from the Docklands Ability Group (DAG) mega merger.

On July 18, it was understood the business had closed down with staff told to leave and communications to the business shut down.

However, on July 26 Longbeach posted a job ad on recruitment website, Seek for an experienced pre-press operator. On August 1, its website appeared to be back up again and calls to the business were answered by staff.

Australian Printer attempted to contact Longbeach this morning, however the call rang out.

Wu has also placed his Melbourne digital print business On Demand in voluntary administration, its administrator Matthew Gollant has advised a second meeting of creditors will be held on August 26 to decide the future of the company.

Wu bought Longbeach from long-time owner Josh De Goot in January this year. De Goot had spent the previous year transforming the business from a traditional offset house into a digital print shop.

De Goot’s son John remained with the business as general manager, and was working there last week.
