Manroland to launch new R700

German offset press giant manroland is launching a new version of its B1 Roland 700.

The company says the new press, dubbed the Roland 700 Evolution, has a completely new ‘avant garde’ design, combining the Roland 700 HS with the Roland 700 Direct Drive, and comes with nine new technological developments.

Details are sketchy with the company is keeping mum about exactly what those technological developments are until the launch event, which is slated for November 5 and 6 at its production centre in Offenbach.

The investment in new design and technological development and launch of the new Roland 700 is the first major development by manroland in recent years, highlighting the stability of the company,  after a period of volatility and then consolidation as it sought to ‘right-size’ its business  in the new, diminished offset market that emerged from the carnage of the GFC.

The original Roland 700 was launched 20 years ago and marked the company’s move away from its historic five-cylinder press configuration and into the unit design.

manroland Sheetfed chief executive Rafael Penuela says: “The Roland 700 Evolution will be another milestone in the evolution of print technology."
