Marchetti gets digital print across the finishing line

OMM (Marchetti) today manufactures both prepress and binding equipment under the watchful eye of Marchetti’s son, Max. Already well-known for its range of paper drills, one- to four-head stapling machines, round cornering machines, creasing and perforating machines, laminating machines and feeders, spine tapers and book binding machines, in response to market demand, Marchetti has added digital finishing equipment to its range and it is the latter for which MAN Ferrostaal is sole agent in Australia and New Zealand.

Marchetti operates from its 4000sq m Bologna headquarters and a 1000sq m production facility in Milan. It supports its customers and agents with more than 30 technical and commercial personnel, and Max Marchetti was in Melbourne last month to support MAN Ferrostaal on its PacPrint stand, where he demonstrated some of the Marchetti digital finishing equipment brought into Australia for PacPrint.

Shaun Thiele, general manager, Bindery and Finishing at MAN  Ferrostaal, says Marchetti offers practical solutions for creasing, laminating, drilling, stapling, feeders and automated deliveries for small volume and small format applications. He says, “the small printer deals with the complexity of digital printing so the last thing he needs is complexity in his finishing equipment. He is looking for equipment that is easy to operate and extremly reliable.

“Marchetti has had over 40 years of experience in manufacturing print finishing equipment, initially for the larger formats. Their solutions are known for their quality and accuracy and now they have applied their considerable expertise to smaller format print production from digital devices.”

Marchetti empasises the simplicity and flexibility of his company’s solutions: “In the small format, the printer has considerable cost constraints, whilst needing as much productivity as he can harvest. We have made the upgrade path easy through the modularity of our solutions for feeding, creasing, laminating and the like,” he says.

“Our machines are evolving to match the needs of digital printers. We carefully consider the investment a printer has to make – we know it isn’t just about the machinery, it’s about all the supporting issues such as spare parts, flexibility, modularity, elimination of waste and so on. We deliver a ‘plug and play’ solution, which is easily serviceable, runs on single-phase 240 volt power and is strongly supported in the field with excellent after-sales service by our agents.”
