McKenzie owned Kwik Kopy hits the heights

Kwik Kopy Miller Street, North Sydney, owned by father, son and daughter team of Peter, Daniel and Susie McKenzie, is the winner of the Kwik Kopy 2017 Franchise of the Year award.

The award was presented at the gala dinner, part of the 2017 Kwik Kopy Conference held in Queenstown, New Zealand in early April.

Run annually by Kwik Kopy Australia, the Franchise of the Year award recognises high performing centres. To qualify Centres must rank in the top quartile in sales, profit and production efficiency as well as be able to demonstrate continued participation in the activities of the Kwik Kopy community.

David Bell, managing director of Kwik Kopy, commented that in spite of the challenges faced by the industry in recent years, franchisees such as Kwik Kopy Miller Street continue to perform at a high level.

Bell says, “Three and a half years ago, experienced Kwik Kopy franchisee, Peter McKenzie, the owner of Kwik Kopy Neutral Bay, came to me with a proposal to purchase Kwik Kopy Miller Street with his children Daniel and Susie,” he said.

“In just a few years, Daniel and Susie have had a chance to put into practice everything they learned from their Dad Peter, turning a struggling business into a top performer, and almost quadrupling sales in the process.”

These days Susie and Peter work out of Kwik Kopy Neutral Bay, with Dan running the Kwik Kopy Miller Street location. Dan says his family are thrilled with the win, crediting a lot of success to the strong team they have built.

“Being a close-knit family, we wanted to instill the same family values into our team,” he says.

“We are all on the same page when it comes to delivering the very best results for our clients. We are thrilled with this win and also that we got to share it with our valued team members Rob and Tom who joined us at the Kwik Kopy conference and awards ceremony.”

The family success story shows no signs of slowing down with the team at Kwik Kopy Miller Street embracing the world of web and digital in addition to print, design and marketing services.

“We’re a local business but being part of a national franchise system means we benefit from the support of the entire Kwik Kopy community,” says Dan McKenzie.

“We love that we get to use our experience to partner with clients to tailor the right print, design, web and marketing services solutions to meet their local business needs.”

Kwik Kopy Managing Director, David Bell says that the commitment displayed by the McKenzie family is the essence of a Kwik Kopy franchisee.

“Clearly it’s good business to keep things in the family as the McKenzies know how to achieve strong sales growth and contain costs without compromising customer service,” he said.

“But these top performers are taking it a step further by sharing their success and empowering each staff member, resulting in an outstanding team, solid profits and a business model set for further success.”
