Mimaki Australia hires Brad Creighton

Mimaki Australia's plan to double its headcount has started with the appointment of Brad Creighton as national sales & marketing manager.

The 20-year industry veteran will join Mimaki’s new Australian subsidiary on 2 September after holding a similar role at reseller DGS Mimaki. He will oversee the national distribution of products.

Creighton has spent a decade marketing, selling and supporting Mimaki products, firstly from 2003-07 and then since 2008. He has also worked at Avery Dennison and Wollongong firm Thomas Creative.

"One of the main lessons I have taken from 20 years in the graphic, sign and display industry is the constant evolution of technology, [of] which Mimaki has been an industry leader," he said.

"Manufacturing leading products in various fields is no mean feat, but when these products change the way businesses think, produce and deliver, now that’s something special."

Mimaki managing director Hiroshi Okino said Creighton would bring "a great understanding of the Australian market" to the business.

The Sydney-based company is currently based out of a temporary office in North Ryde. Its Rydalmere headquarters, which is being refurbished, will be officially opened in October.

Creighton said: "Forward planning is vital as we travel up the sales-and-service-rollout strategy curve. Bigger premises are part of a strategy that will see our staff level grow from the current six to over a dozen in a few months' time."
