Sign and point of sale printers looking to upgrade or get in on the ground floor of UV flatbed now have two new presses to consider from Mimaki Australia. Two new wide format flatbeds are hitting the Australian market this month: Mimaki’s mid-range eco-solvent roll-to-roll JV300-130/160 and the UV-LED flatbed JFX200-25134 – the company’s first entry-level UV flatbed printer. The JV300 is an upgrade from the JV33, though the latter will continue to be produced.

Ken Seki, marketing manager with Mimaki Asia and Oceania, says the JV300 can print twice as fast as the JV33, with new features including three heaters and a blower to dry ink faster. He says it also sports an easier to use rip system, and can be monitored remotely with text message updates. Additional applications include heat transfer printing to fabric for sports clothes and t-shirts. Brad Creighton, national sales and marketing manager with Mimaki Australia, says sign and display businesses will appreciate the JV300’s extra functionality. He says, “In addition to the eco-solvent inkjet printing quality that can be achieved with this new family of printers, these printers are also flexible as they can be used for both eco-solvent and water-based sublimation printing. “This makes return on investment and the profitable development of new applications faster and easier than ever before for sign and display graphics businesses of all sizes.” The JV300 can print 1.3m or 1.6m with four colour, eight colour or six colour plus white depending on the ink type. Its cousin, the JFX200, produces the same quality print as the top end, says Seki – the main difference is size. The JFX200 prints up to 25sqm per hour, on materials up to 2.5m x 1.3m and 50mm thick. This equates to eight boards an hour, with four colour, and four boards an hour with four colours plus white and clear. It can print colour and clear at the same time, with a glossy or matte finish, and can handle heat-sensitive materials thanks to LED technology.
