Mimaki launches metallic ink to market

Brad Creighton, sales manager for DGS Mimaki says, “The new ink is compatible with existing hardware. As well as new sales it will also reinforce Mimaki’s future proof inkjet technology by enabling this option to our existing JV33 and CJV30 clients without having to make additional investments in new hardware.”

Creighton adds that Mimaki dealers have welcomed the availability of the metallic ink. Mimaki believes the new silver ink will allow users to create higher valued print products with a range of metallic effects such as gold or bronze. Multiple metallic colour shades can be achieved by combining Mimaki’s new silver ink with full colour ES3 inks allowing a variety of eye-catching effects to be achieved on a wide range of print products.

Mimaki has confirmed that its JV33-130/160/260, CJV30-60/100/130/160, TS3-1600, TPC-1000 range of printers are compatible with the new silver ink and no equipment retrofitting will be required except for a RIP and firmware update.

The company continues that the silver ink requires no specialised operator training and users simply choose the appropriate colour from the metallic colour library in Raster Link Pro5 prior to printing. Raster Link Pro5 enables output of all shades of metallic colours by calling up the feature chart for silver ink allowing users to create their own colour models, metallic shades or customer colours.

Parallel with the introduction of the metallic silver, Mimaki will begin shipping its new ES3 white ink designed for underprinting on transparent and coloured substrates. Using a white underprint will make colours more vivid and allow the creation of a whole range of spectacular effects.

The October introduction of the new white and metallic silver inks in 220ml cartridges will complement the existing 440ml sized ES3 ink portfolio of yellow, magenta, cyan, black, light magenta and light cyan.
