Mimaki opens Australian subsidiary

Japanese wide format printer manufacturer Mimaki has opened an Australian subsidiary, and signed up two new national distributors Spicers and Fujifilm. Mimaki printers have been sold here for more than 20 years through dealers, the company has now decided to provide on-the-ground support to dealers and printers. Mimaki printers will continue to be sold through dealers which include DGS, Spandex, TechCad, AGS and GBC, as well as new boys Spicers and Fujifilm. Brad Creighton, national sales and marketing manager at Mimaki says, “Mimaki wants closer contact with printers, and by investing in a demonstration and technology centre we are making this happen. Mimaki has a wide range of solutions, and most of them will be on show here.”

Mimaki has three main market areas; sign graphics, industrial printing and textile apparel. In the industrial printing sector Mimaki has a range of UV flatbed and roll-fed printers available in a highly competitive field. Mimaki had its president Hisayaki Kobayashi in town for the event, who says, “Mimaki has grown through its commitment to innovation, which has led to a series of solutions provided added-value opportunities, and hat strategy will continue.” Spicers head of emerging markets Rohan Dean says, “Spicers has become a Mimaki supplier because we believe the Mimaki range offers printers excellent quality, reliability and price performance. Spicers has a national footprint with 40 staff in our wide format division, so we are well placed to meet the needs of the market.”
