Momentum enters administration

The print industry has suffered its first major blow of the new year with David Minnett’s Momentum Group being placed into administration. Administrator Alan Hayes is currently working through a schedule with Minnett at Momentum’s head office in Crows Nest. Hayes says it is too early to provide outcome possibilities, he will have a clearer idea by the end of this week.

Momentum has won multiple awards for its digital printing, with Minnett himself a leading light in the global HP Indigo user group D Scoop. The company has been a long time Indigo user and installed the country’s first HP Indigo 7500 in November 2010. Minnett has been running the business, which was established by his father in 1978, since 1992, when it was known as Photo Headlines and was mainly a typesetting and artwork house. Within six years he had transformed it into one of the country’s leading digital print outfits, and then began evolving it into a marketing services business, offering a raft of additional services such as photography, art direction and design. Minnett was a keen proponent of the need to understand electronic communication in all its manifestations, from TV and radio to email, the internet, podcasts, SMS, MMS, and to understand any combination of these with print. More details to come.
