Moore Printing PNG increases pre press capabilities

Moore Printing PNG enlisted the support of Brisbane based G2 Solutions to completely revamp its pre-press systems. The upgrade included 7 x 27” iMac computers, which were configured to order with additional RAM and i7 processors, as well as upgrades to software including Adobe Creative Suite 5.5, Pitstop Professional v10 and new imposition software.

The existing Xitron Navigator RIP & Workflow system was also upgraded, with new Intel hardware, updated RIP interpreter software with the latest PDF capabilities and additional workstation client licences.

Proofing wasn’t overlooked either, with the Xitron system feeding proofing data to the upgraded EFI 4.5 RIP, which drives 1 x 24” and 2 x 17” Epson plotters.

The final piece of the puzzle, a new 8 TB SNAP NAS server will provide storage for work in progress and archive facilities for existing work.

With nearly 150 staff at the Port Moresby facility and 9 presses to feed, planning for the upgrade was critical. Minimum downtime and interruption to existing production schedules were high on the priority list.

Ian Briggs, production manager at Moore Printing PNG says, “We worked closely with G2 Solutions to plan the change over and ensure our objectives were met. Our prepress staff left work on Friday and arrived Monday to find the system in full readiness for production, a really great result, we are very pleased.”

Also commenting, David Doig, general manager of Moore PNG says, “This investment reinforces our commitment to printing in Papua New Guinea. Moore is working to keep our facilities at a world class level, for the benefit of both our clients and our staff.”

It should be noted Moore Printing PNG has no relationship with the Australian “Moore Printing”
