Murder packaging business in liquidation

The Gosford-based packaging business of slain owner, Keith Collins is now in liquidation a month after it collapsed into administration.

Elite Packaging Solutions was appointed a liquidator, Paul William Gidley from Shaw Gidley on May 23, Gidley also handled the company’s administration.

Elite Packaging fell into administration in April following the brutal and widely publicised murder of Collins, who was fatally stabbed while on a first date with Jovi Pilapil.

It is alleged that Pilapil’s ex-partner Alexander Villaluna stormed into a Korean restaurant in Sydney’s north-west on March 31, where Collins and Pilapil were having dinner, and attacked Collins and Pilapil.

Villaluna is expected to face Hornsby Local Court later today charged with murder and attempted murder.

Australian Printer understands Collins’s death was not associated with the company’s administration and subsequent liquidation because the business was reportedly experiencing financial difficulties prior to this.

Following his appointment as administrator, Gidley arranged two creditors meetings with the second addressing three likely outcomes for Elite Packaging: it would enter into a deed of company arrangement; it would fall into liquidation; or it would resume trading as a solvent business.

According to the Australian Securities and Investments Commission’s (ASIC) website, the company is now listed as ‘in liquidation’ and advises it will ‘be wound up voluntarily.’

The business appears to have already ceased trading. Its Facebook page and website have been shut down and its phone line is disconnected. It is unclear what will happen to Elite Packaging’s staff of 16 people.

Australian Printer has attempted to contact the liquidator with no response, however it is likely that steps will now be taken to divvy up Elite Packaging’s assets between creditors.

Before Collins’s death, Elite Packaging was described as a family owned and operated packaging business with over 20 years’ experience.
