Mutoh launches first big flatbed printer

Mutoh is launching the Performance Jet 2508UF, its first 1.22×2.44m UV-LED flatbed printer, having debuted the new press at the International Sign Association (ISA) Sign Expo, the largest sign and graphic exhibition in the US.

Mutoh says the PJ-2508UF is aimed at print shops looking to produce promotional items, directional signage, awards, specialty, labels and packaging prototypes.

Mutoh says the PJ-2508UF is the latest performance model in flatbed printing with field upgradable head configurations of up to eight sets. The printer has four sets of staggered print heads are installed as standard, achieving high-speed printing.

In addition, the company says it has a maximum resolution of 600 x 1200dpi and the latest printing technology, enabling the PJ-2508UF to achieve high image quality. The PerformanceJet has an  automatic media thickness detector supporting media up to 100mm thick and 50kg per sqm.

The company says the printer also comes standard with an automatic media registration pin system and a vacuum table with a blow-back feature for easy handling and positioning of heavy media. The vacuum table is said to be divided into four zones firmly fixing various media sizes and improving work efficiency.

Mutoh claims other features of the new flatbed printer include it UV-LED hard ink, available in four or six colours  (CMYK or CMYK, white and varnish) which the company says has durability and colour gamut and is suitable for various media, and there is a static elimination system to enable printing on media vulnerable to anti-static electricity.
