After much deliberation, judges have now chosen the winners in the 33rd annual National Print Awards with attention now turning to preparation for the industry’s ‘night of nights’. This year the awards ceremony will take place in Melbourne’s Regent Theatre Plaza Ballroom, on May 20, where the Gold, Silver and Bronze awards will be presented to recipients. Hundreds of entries from around Australia were sent in and evaluated by a panel of industry experts, who say they were impressed by the overall quality level of the work submitted.

Chair of judges, Luke Wooldridge comments, “Every year, we think that the standard achieved can get no higher and each year, we are surprised again by how printers here in Australia continue to push the boundaries of quality and innovation to achieve results which would most certainly rate amongst the best in the world.” The night will also see the announcement of the Media Super Printing Industry Legend, the Media Super Young Executive of the Year and the Fuji Xerox Effectiveness Award. The ceremony will conclude with the awarding of the Judges’ Award for Excellence, which is presented to the entry which the panel believes represents the most outstanding example of print submitted in the year’s awards. Wooldridge admits the competition was so stiff this year, the panel created a special ‘Runners Up’ award for the entry which lost by only a narrow margin, but which the judges felt deserved recognition. NPA Chair Susan Heaney has remained tight-lipped on the evening’s entertainment line-up, but promises, “A night of fine dining and entertainment planned to celebrate the achievements of our industry.” Invitations will soon be mailed out to industry members, for more information see the NPA website.
