New colour proofing technology promises one-proof success

OpenColor also offers “significant time savings” because only one proof is needed to accurately simulate all colours of the design, according to GMG.

OpenColor creates multicolour profiles that simulate the printing behaviour of diverse printing technologies without use of ‘proprietary chart-based’ press fingerprinting, said GMG.

It analyses each ink colour and substrate, applying them to a specific printing process, before process-specific information is added and the final press condition is simulated, said GMG.

GMG product manager Garry Muratore said OpenColor offered colour standardisation for printers, designers and brand owners.

“They have to work with a wide variety of printing conditions with alternating numbers of colours, including CMYK and spots,” he said.

“Brand owners have very high colour accuracy expectations, no matter where something is printed. GMG OpenColor is designed to address this complex and error-prone problem in package production.”

Printers can get an opportunity for a closer look at OpenColor at two events this week: Sydney on 27 November and Melbourne on 29 November. Bookings are essential. Click here to reserve your place.
