New Minister to meet print industry leaders

Senator Carr will be the guest of honour at the second Printing Industry
Leaders Forum on April 1 at Darling Harbour.
He will speak on Innovation and the Printing Industry.

Printing Industries'
previous event in 2007 attracted a capacity crowd to hear the then Minister for
Industry, Tourism and Resources, Ian Macfarlane.

Printing Industries
CEO Philip Andersen said the agreement by Senator Carr to meet with industry so
early after the new government's election was a good sign of its intention to
work co-operatively with industry. He says, "It is very important,
with so many policy changes foreshadowed by the Labor Government, that we
maintain close contact and develop good relationships with the new ministers
and senior bureaucrats across a range of portfolios.

"Senator Carr has been
open and co-operative and we appreciate his attendance at our forum to meet the
leaders of our industry to gain a better understanding of who we are, our
important role in the economy and its influence on us and the extent of what we
do as an industry.

"It is also important for
us to understand the government's vision for the future and to build
relationships that take into account our perspectives and needs as part of the
government's policy and goal setting process."

The April 1 lunch event
will be staged at the Star Room of the Imax Theatre Complex, 31 Wheat Road,
Darling Harbour from 12 noon to 3pm. RSVPs are required by March 20 to Nouha on
(02) 8789 7300 or e-mail nouha@printnet.com.au
