New PIAA industrial relations head Charles Watson will bring legal know-how

Chief executive Phillip Andersen told ProPrint that Watson was an easy choice for the role because of his strong legal background and the industry respect he has gained, having worked with the association since 2005.

Watson will focus on such issues as employment relations, employer responsibilities and regulation of businesses, while he will also continue to help members with legal issues.

“Watson will be broadening the role to address legal advice regarding issues surrounding copyright, intellectual property and commercial leases,” he said.

“I think that this is help that a lot of our members actually need.”

Watson said: “The industry faces complex and continually evolving challenges and the period ahead looks no less interesting.

“I am proud to be leading a diligent and hard working national team of advisers and look forward to continuing to provide members with pragmatic commercially driven advice and services.”
