New private print school to help ‘make clients more profitable’

RMIT University announced in April that it would close its International Centre of Graphic Technology (ICGT) training centre – and then angered the Printing Industries Association of Australia when it agreed to sell its apprenticeship training assets to CLB.

CLB said it expected to launch pre-press and digital printing courses next year, and also take its training to other states.

Chief executive Gary Cobbledick said the firm had recruited an experienced team of 10 trainers, including former ICGT lead trainers.

“We are delighted to be in a position to offer print training to apprentices in Victoria,” he said.

“Our goal is to make our clients more profitable by helping them to work more efficiently. We believe that enormous productivity gains can be achieved by adopting ‘lean principles’ and working smarter.”

CLB is now taking enrolments for apprentices in Certificate III in printing and print finishing, from first year to third year.
