New Tensor tower helps Sydney’s MPD grow colour newspaper pages

Linda Tenenbaum, managing director of the Alexandria-based print company, said investing in the single-width T-1400 tower was a more “cost-effective” option.

She added that the decision to stick with Tensor was due to the quality of its product as well as the service she has received from its Australian representative.

“We have completed six separate equipment orders with Tensor over the past nine years, and each one has been very well serviced by both Tensor and National Printing Equipment (NPE), Tensor’s local representative,” she said.

MPD has been in operation for 29 years and prints a range of newspapers, foreign language publications and university papers. It was formerly known as Marrickville Print and Design.

The T-1400 started up a fortnight ago and has already integrated well into the production environment.

Tensor vice president Martina Ruda said the US-based manufacturer was equally pleased with the achievement.

“Tensor has been MPD’s press supplier of choice since 2002, and we’re incredibly proud to continue to serve MPD as its business needs have exponentially grown and changed over the last decade,” said Ruda.

“It’s been a pleasure to watch MPD achieve its goals and time its major press acquisitions as each milestone is reached.”
