News Ltd boosts “flexibility, security and speed” with new Ferag line

The EasySert line was installed in February and is used to add supplements to the NT News and Sunday Territorian. The system allows four supplements to be added in the offline process at speeds of up to 25,000 finished copies per hour, according to Ferag.

News Limited’s group production logistics director, Geoff Booth, said the EasySert system “allows us to score top marks when it comes to flexibility, security and speed”.

The production line also includes two Ferag MultiStack compensating stackers that can bundle up to 75,000 copies per hour and a FlyStream pre-selecting line that uses high-speed hoppers to gather the inserts, according to Ferag.

“The gathering line incorporates the unique Integrated Repair Control function and guarantees almost 100% completeness when supplement collections are inserted into the main product. Incomplete collections are returned to the gathering circuit and the missing product is added.”
