Ricoh is rolling out its Pro VC60000 continuous feed printer to help offset printers transition to digital. The company says the machine may help offset printers work more efficiently, transferring jobs to digital that have not been profitable on offset. John Hall, managing director of Ricoh Australia, says, “The Ricoh Pro VC60000 complements our current portfolio and leads the way into the future of production print in Australia.” The VC6000 allows data-driven applications and is capable of printing more than 100,000 A4 images in an hour. The machine uses new print heads capable of 1200 by 1200dpi resolution, and has a modular design with future expansions and upgrades in mind. Ricoh says commercial printers can run, with the optional undercoat unit, a variety of offset coated gloss stocks on the machine, with quality the company says approaches offset. An optional inline protector-coating unit offers scratch and scuff resistance, and a new Digital Front End (DFE) provides native support for PDF and PDF/VT together with JDF and colour management support.
