Océ’s new high speed inkjet hits the market

The new ColorStream extends Océ’s inkjet portfolio, which includes its JetStream series, extending the reach of Océ inkjet systems to the mainstream environment and offering transition into full colour digital printing, according to the company.

Herbert Kieleithner, marketing manager for production printing at Océ says the flexible web press gives users a reliable solution for transaction, transpromo, direct mail book and manual applications.

He says, “It comes in modular offerings in various single and twin configurations. The system future-proofs users by allowing for the transition from existing business patterns to more sophisticated documents with complete personalisation and the addition of colour.

“The majority of digital print volume is still monochrome and, typically with the purchase of colour capability, the print volume switches to full colour gradually, in increasing volumes.”

The ColorStream 3500 system prints at 75 meters per minute with a print width of 540 mm. That translates to 505 A4-size ppm for a single unit or 1,010 A4-size ppm for a twin configuration, at 600 x 600 dpi resolution.

According to Océ the 3500 system is the first high volume, full-color inkjet system that combines Océ DigiDot piezoelectric drop-on-demand technology, Océ SRA MP controller power and the flexibility of Océ VarioStream L-, H- or U-shape twin configurations.

Kieleithner says, “The new printer effectively bridges the gap between the traditional toner-based VarioStream family and the latest inkjet-based Océ JetStream family. It combines DigiDot quality, the flexibility of the Océ VarioStream and the full-colour productivity of the JetStream range.”
