Out-of-home growth breaking records

The Outdoor Media Association reports the out of home (OOH) industry had a net media revenue of $53.6m for the month of January, an increase of 11.6 per cent from January 2016, which saw $48.1m in advertising dollars.

The $53.6m can be broken down to four categories: roadside billboards over and under 25 sqm with $23.3m, roadside other (street furniture, bus/tram externals, small format) with $14.6m, transport (including airports) with $8.4m, and the retail, lifestyle and other category with $7.3m.

Digital OOH net media revenue now makes up 42.5 per cent of total net media revenue, up from 33.9 per cent for the same period last year, rapidly increasing its slice of the pie.

The January figures follows on from a strong 2016, where the OOH industry finished with a 15.8 per cent increase, taking the net media revenue to a record high of $789.5m, up from $682.1m in 2015, according to figures from the Outdoor Media Association.
