PIAA interviews CEO hopefuls

The PIAA has interviewed a short list of six potential CEOs in the ongoing search to find a replacement for Jason Allen, who prematurely left the post in February. All four of the newly appointed PIAA Board members – John Scott, Walter Kuhn, Matt Aitken and Kellie Northwood were present to conduct the interviews in Sydney, joined by Peter Lane and Chris Segaert. The three remaining Board members, including acting president Kieran May could not attend due to family and work commitments. Australian Printer understands the PIAA Board will now further narrow down the group of six and conduct a second round of interviews in the coming weeks.

Kieran May says process will take ‘shorter than a few weeks’, adding that he would like to see the new CEO named ‘sooner rather than later’. “The Board has interviewed talented people with a wide range of work experience in print associations and other business fields,” May says. “Some of them have great association backgrounds, others have an emphasis on the print industry, and some have lobbying backgrounds.” According to May, the successful candidate will possess strong communication skills, a proven ability to implement successful strategies, and an attitude which engenders confidence in members. Former CEO Allen, who was brought in to spearhead a three-year business transformation of the PIAA, announced his resignation in December after only six months in the role. Allen intended to serve until April 1, however he made an early exit in February. Former CEO Bill Healey was subsequently appointed interim CEO until a new chief executive could be found.
