PIAA to run first aid course for printers

Walz says, “We are now offering the Apply First Aid Course which is a tailored program that highlights the common hazards people can encounter in the printing industry. The one-day practical and assessment program is designed to best use time away from the workplace.

“On successful completion of the training, participants receive an attendance sheet outlining the course outcomes achieved. They also receive a nationally accredited First Aid Certificate, a wallet-sized plastic First Aid card and a 255 page full colour First Aid Manual.”

Walz also said the course was suitable for any employee to undertake and did not require a prior knowledge of first aid.

“Occupational health and safety laws in NSW encourage employers to have first aid trained staff as part of their responsibility to be able to respond to workplace incidents. This course is an ideal way to help meet this responsibility.”

Printing INdustrues outlines that employers, regardless of what size company they have, are responsible for anything that goes wrong in the workplace that could have been mitigated by having trained employees.

Walz says, “They are also required to have first aid facilities that are adequate for the immediate treatment of injuries and illnesses that may arise at the place of work.”

The course, available only to Printing Industries members, will be held at Printing Industries Auburn office from 9am-5pm.
