PICA entries sought in Victoria

The new-look Awards, the first state-based Awards in Victoria for more than 20 years, offer 19 categories covering a broad range of print processes and incorporating special awards for small business and environmental achievements.

According to Chairman of the PICA Victoria Organising Committee, Trevor Hone, who heads a team including Ray Keane, Ron Patterson, Peter Barker, Steve Strang and Kim Robberds, support from the industry for the event is strong.

"The industry in Victoria has responded very positively and we are delighted to have confirmed the support of many of the leading companies as sponsors and patrons," Hone reports.

Response to entry forms, which are currently circulating and can also be downloaded from the PICA Victoria website, has also been enthusiastic, he says.

"To be eligible for entry, a job must have been produced between September 1, 2006 and August 31 2007, and must be received at Printing Industries in Mulgrave by August 31 with the appropriate entry details completed," says Hone.

"It's worth reminding intending entrants that their work will be judged on the samples submitted, so they should check the copies carefully to make sure there are no individual printing faults which may not be representative of the run as a whole," he adds.

Entries will be judged in September, and the competition will culminate in a glittering Presentation Dinner at Melbourne's Park Hyatt Hotel on the evening of Friday October 19 2007, which is already shaping up as an unmissable event on the Victorian graphic arts calendar.
