Pocket Printer Handles Email

The physical mail device, named Phymail Box, was conceived by interaction designer Giovanni Cannata for his fellow Italians, three-fourths of whom hesitate to access the Internet because they don’t know how to use a computer, according to survey by the country’s Centre for Social Studies and Policies.

However, the puny printer can also be put to use by the technologically savvy, some of whom cannot stop checking their emails.

“The computer forces you to stay there because it offers you everything,” says Cannata of Interaction Design Labs in Milan, Italy.

Cannata’s printer, which is still in the initial prototype stage, is meant to alleviate the pressures faced by both groups and explore ways for making digital information physical.
