Preece leaving paper giant

Multinational paper merchant Spicers has revealed that Andy Preece will step down from his tenure as CEO a year after assuming the position.

Preece took on the role as Spicers chief executive following the board’s abrupt sacking of predecessor Andrew Price, and went on to manage the business through a tumultuous year involving a drastic name change from Paperlinx and the collapse of European operations.

Originally serving as Spicers general manager, Preece was involved in the merging of Paperlinx and Spicers after promotion to CEO.

The news comes on the back of the paper company’s half year results, which managed to turn a profit after its failure to tap into the European market with a German division.

Spicer’s says Preece will serve out his role for a period of three months while the Board finds a replacement.
