The annual Industrie Forum Design award has been given to two Heidelberg machines, the Primefire 106 and Prinect Press Center XL 2.
Stephan Plenz, member for the equipment management board at Heidelberg says, “Operation of our products must be intuitive and efficient. Customer benefit is therefore our main objective in design development. Digitisation and design innovations from Heidelberg constitute a perfect, uniform solution. This is impressively highlighted by winning the iF Design Award 2017 for the Primefire 106 and Prinect Press Center XL 2.”

The Heidelberg Primefire 106 is the first industrial printing system for B1 format, according to Heidelberg it combines the flexibility of digital printing with the reliability and precision of offset printing. The Prinect Press Center XL 2 is a new machine control station. Heidelberg says its detailed ergonomic design ensures simple, uniform operator guidance for Heidelberg digital and offset printing systems.
Heidelberg’s digital inkjet sheetfed B1 Primefire 106 digital printing system has begun its pilot phase, at international packaging manufacturer Multi Packaging Solutions (MPS), based in the US. It was launched at drupe last year. Benny Landa is also racing to launch a B1 packaging digital press to the market.
The Industrie Forum Design accolade is an internationally-known, renowned award for excellent design innovations. Since 1953, the award has been presented annually in a variety of categories for achievements in the area of product design. The award is presented by International Forum Design, based in Hanover.
